What is the Difference Between NIST SP 800-88 Clear, Purge, and Destroy?

NIST SP 800-88 Rev 1 defines three levels of sanitisation: Clear (software overwrite), Purge (rendering target data recovery impossible), and Destroy (physical destruction of the media).

UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 require organizations to enforce strict controls for disposing of personal data. Failing to destroy data permanently can lead to ICO fines of up to £17.5 million. We protect companies from these compliance risks.
